Ernest Sohn Creations Chaffing Casserole Dish

Memorial Day Weekend garage sales in our town always mark the start of garage sale season. There are so many sales you can literally go all day and not see them all. I found this elegant Danish modern casserole dish with a warmer stand by Ernest Sohn Creations circa 1950s. The lid handle and stand's legs are made from walnut. The set is in excellent vintage condition despite the fact the legs are missing the brass caps. A fun piece to add to the collection.

Chiiori House Iya Valley

In 2001 I visited Chiiori House with a group I was traveling with. The owner, Alex Kerr, was a great help to us by bridging the cultural gap we weren't even aware existed. Silly us. Alex was a great host and I'll always remember our conversation on the bullet train while we on our way there. We discussed that this was probably the only moment we'd ever talk and may never have this moment again. He was right. It was a wonderful evening and at the end of the evening Alex did a gorgeous calligraphy. I still have the green tea we picked at his neighbor's home that is wrapped in a sheet of his caligraphy. If you visit Iya Valley, Japan this 300 year old farm is a must to see. I found this video on Youtube. Enjoy!!!!

Pennine By Wedgwood China

Every once in a while I come across a gorgeous, and I mean gorgeous, Mid-century Modern dinnerware set and cannot resist. This set was manufactured between 1965 and 1971. I guess I still am in love with that perfect place setting when I entertain. The dinner may be simple but the table should always look like a million bucks. Atmosphere is everything, at least in my book. I found a partial set of Pennine by Wedgwood China, made in England while on a shopping trip today. The dinner plate lists at 33.95 on Replacements LTD alone. I love this set!
